Built on the foundations of an old sixteenth century stone fortress, with sweeping views over the former sugar and coffee plantations, our elegant resort features high ceilings and traditional and deep verandahs. The surrounding Poinciana trees provide cooling shade from the warm tropical sun and provide a sense of balance and harmony with nature.

Nestled in the rainforests of the Caribbean, yoga at Bromley is the perfect way to find harmony and relaxation among nature. Our large open wooden floored yoga platform provides you with an idyllic location to wile away the stresses and strains of modern life. Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio has been voted as The Best Yoga Studio in Halifax by readers of The Coast magazine.

New for 2011, a shakeup in the Best of rankings—Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio wins the gold, and TAYS co-owner Maxine Munro is a big reason why. “Maxine is the best yoga instructor ever!” says a survey voter. “When I leave her class I feel like all the kinks have been worked out and I can finally relax.”

It took me a few years to come back to yoga after recovering from an eating disorder. I feel blessed to have chosen Maxine’s class as the place for the return to my mat. Maxine provides a safe space for practitioners at all levels to learn and evolve. Her asana sequences nurture the mind and body, but more importantly the soul. She is a dedicated teacher whose support I continue to feel during practice even though I live across the continent! It’s hard to describe in words the impact yoga has had on my life, but one thing I can express is that I will be forever grateful that Maxine was my first teacher upon returning to the asana practice.

I feel much obliged to share my experiences for Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio. This is a fantastic place to practice! I went to a class at this studio for the first time about two years ago, and this summer bought an unlimited pass and practiced daily. I am currently enrolled in their Yoga Teacher Training program, and have nothing but good things to say about all of the wonderful people who work and train here. If you’re thinking about doing your teacher training in Halifax, I recommend their weekends-program. It spans about 9/10 months and gives you a lot of time to practice teaching while going through the course. Mike, Maxine and Leslie focus a great deal of time on proper alignment and anatomy education, which is essential if you’re going to be a safe teacher.

The studio’s focus is Hatha flow yoga; as well many of the teachers also implement principles from the Baptiste tradition. There is a weekly mediation class, as well as a couple of classes dedicated to the Ashtanga tradition. You will also find family yoga, yoga-dance and prenatal classes. The studio has been around for quite some time and you will find regulars and newbies alike attending classes. I recommend giving this studio a whirl. It is a very comfortable and inviting place to further your practice.

Emma Drudge

“When I first moved to Nova Scotia I planned a yoga-tour of Halifax –  I wanted to try as many studios as possible to find the one that best suited my practice. Stop one: the studio closest to my home for a Hatha Vinyasa class with Maxine Munroe. Three years later I’m still on the first stop of my Halifax yoga-tour. Maxine’s teaching and the atmosphere she creates at Therapeutic Approach Yoga Studio drew me in and I haven’t looked elsewhere since. TAYS is the most loving and unpretentious studio I’ve found and Maxine’s teaching style is always welcoming. Her intuitive assists and creative flows have played a huge role in the evolution of my practice.”
